First announced back at CES 2020, Samsung’s 980 Pro SSD is the brand’s first PCIe 4.0 SSD and was, unsurprisingly, made to accommodate AMD’s X570 and B550 motherboards. And while there is still no official details from the Korean electronics giant, popular leakster Ice universe (@UniverseIce) has alleged that Samsung’s next-generation SSD will have some unyieldingly fast speeds. Specifically, the 980 Pro will have sequential read speeds of 6.5GB/s and sequential write speeds of 5GB/s. That’s a huge jump in performance, compared to the current PCIe 3.0 970 Pro’s sequential read and write speeds of 3.5GB/s and 2.7GB/s, respectively.

At the time of writing, no pricing for the SSD has been given. That said, it’s highly likely that the 1TB variant will cost upwards of RM2000 at launch.
